New Nedcranes container crane for Railport Brabant

The entire project has had a lead time of less than a year. Production started at the beginning of last year. An existing container crane was used as the basis for the construction, which was completely renewed by Nedcranes and adjusted to the specifications of Railport Brabant. For example, the track width was adjusted by shortening the span from 41 meters to 27 meters. The trolley has been turned around to have a better view of the reach stackers, trucks and trains from the cabin. Furthermore, the drives for the crane and the trolley have been renewed and new hoisting motors have been installed. The crane has also been completely preserved.

The electrical installation of the container crane has been completely redesigned and installed according to the most recent requirements and guidelines in this area. In this design we opted for Schneider frequency inverters with an energy recuperation system. The medium-voltage installation has also been completely renewed, including the 10 kV transformer.

For GVT it is the first container crane at the Railport Brabant terminal. Previously the containers were picked up with reach stackers only. The expansion with the new container crane ensures a significant increase in productivity and efficiency. The storage capacity has increased also. About 500 containers can be stored under the crane. In short, a substantial expansion of the capacity of Railport Brabant!
